Section 1: Non-Modifiable Personal Risk Factors
Non-modifiable risk factors for type 2 diabetes are
personal characteristics that you cannot change and
which increase your chances of developing type 2
diabetes. However, having 1 or more of these
characteristics does not mean that you will inevitably
develop type 2 diabetes. By changing other personal
characteristics (that are within your individual control
and described in section 2), it is possible to
substantially reduce your chances of developing type 2
diabetes.
